Jazzowy Zamość (Jazz in Zamość)

Mieczysław Kosz, an outstanding jazz musician, who was born near Zamość, became inspiration for the numerous jazz events in organized Zamość. The Mieczysław Kosz Jazz Club (Kosz) and its manager Grzegorz Obst have been converting the inspiration into excellent music events.

The first event called Jazz Na Kresach is held in May. During the festival, a true music feast takes place in the Rynek in Zamość: visitors and residents have a chance to listen to eminent Polish and foreign jazz musicians and young, promising jazz music novices. Such famous artists as Wojciech Majewski Quintet, Marek Bałata and Dorota Miśkiewicz, to name just a few, have performed in Zamość. The patron and regular participator in Zamość festival is Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, who was declared an honorary resident of Zamość in recognition of his involvement in the jazz life of the town.

In July Jazz on the Borderland New Cooperation Festival is held; it consists of jazz concerts and mini recitals during which outstanding jazz musicians present their skills.  

The July event is followed by International Meetings of Jazz Singers, held in August.
