This place is not to be just looked at and the monument which commemorates over half a million Jews murdered by the Nazis within less than 10 months in Bełżec in 1942 is not just an object to look at. You have to literally walk through the monument because when you enter the site of the former death camp, you have to enter the crack. Then you walk on till you reach a high wall behind which there is nothing. Nothing at all. It gives you a chance to experience the atmosphere of this place. The monument is probably one of the best martyrdom monuments in Poland if not in the world.
