Once the yards located at the back of tenement houses with their storehouses for firewood, stables, coach houses, sheds and toilets had an economic function. Almost every tenement house had its own yard. Now the walls and fences, which divided them into smaller plots, have been pulled down and the spacious and renovated yards have become the pride of the town. They often become the stage for concerts, performances and exhibitions.
