Monument to Jan Zamoyski

Information

The monument is made of bronze and commemorates the founder of the town. It stands in Akademicka Street, in front of Entailers’ palace and was designed by professor Marian Konieczny. It is 10 m high and presents the hetman on horseback and with a baton in his outstretched right hand. The monument was unveiled on 17 September 2005, 400 years after Jan Zamoyski’s death. The unveiling of the monument was an important part of the celebration of  the Year of Zamość, held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland.
